Implementation of e-District programme
e-District project is one of the mission mode projects under National e-Governance plan (NeGP) and District e-governance Society plays a major role at the District level. More than five services from Revenue department are made available through the e-District portal and common service Centres(CSCs) are operating in Theni District to provide Government service such as issuance of No Graduate certificate, Deserted Women certificate, Community certificate, Income certificate, Nativity Certificate etc. through PACCs centres. Each PACCs centre has been equipped with the computer, scanner, printer with internet connectivity.
Training programme was repeatedly conducted for the computer operator at PACCs and similarly for VAOs, RI, DT, ZDT ,Tahsildar and RDOs and login credentials for accessing e-District portal has been created for officials involved and handed over. Work flow of the system is that applications are received from the PACCs center and after entering the relevant details, acknowledgment is issued. VAO can login into the system and forward it to the RI with his/her remarks then RI will login into the system and forward it to the Dy. Tahsildar. Depends upon the service requested , the concerned Zonal DT or Tahsildar will approve/reject it using the DSC. As soon as the approval is given, an alert message will be sent to the applicant to his/her mobile. Applicant can collect the certificate from the center where he/she has applied. More than 100 PACCs centres are functioning in Theni District.
TN Assembly Election
NIC extended technical support to conduct free and fair Assembly Election 2016. In all the identified vulnerable and critical polling station , polling process was recorded with software provided by vendor. Training imparted to all connected polling personnel for sending poll related SMS.
Swachh Bharath Mission-MIS Application
The main objective of this project is to promote segregation of waste at source, door to door collection of waste, night sweeping for large cities etc.,. SBM is being implemented by the Ministry of Urban Development(M/o UD) and by the Ministry of Drinking water and Sanitation (M/o DWS) for urban and rural areas respectively.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched on 2nd October 2014, and aims to eradicate open defecation by 2019, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a national campaign, covering 4,041 statutory cities and towns
Online Grievance Petitions system
The system is designed and developed by NIC TNSC. This system facilitates the users to capture the basic details of the petitioners and is also user friendly. Different type of petitions such as Monday Petition and CM Cell Petition etc., are entered into the system by using user-ids created specifically for the purpose of capturing the data. The users can generate acknowledgment slip that can be given to the petitioner. The Tamil version of this web enabled system is helpful to both the users and petitioners who will receive the action taken report generated through the system. Each and every head of the department will have to use the system with their own login ID and password for viewing the petition received and also sending the reply using the system. SDC(SSS) can also view reply sent by an officer and SDC(SSS) can either reject or accept the reply.
NIC involved in the election related work. In order to conduct free and fair election, ICT has been utilized. There are more than 1000 polling stations in Theni District and each polling station may fall in either Critical category or sensitive category. Laptops and Computer systems loaded with Windows 7 Professional with Java Run time version 1.6 and Web casting and Video streaming software were installed. More than 350 Laptops and computer systems with web camera were used in the polling station to capture / record the polling process.
Panchayat Raj Institutions Accounting Software - Training to the officials of Rural Department , Theni District Thiru Sunil Paliwal IAS., the then Collector , Theni spoke about the importance of PriaSoft system .
Capacity Building programme
Inauguration of capacity building programme in Theni District. Thiru Atul Anand IAS., launched the capacity building programme as part of land record computerization.
Digitization of FMB using Collabland software
Under the computerization of land records programme, the digitization of FMBs commenced as a pilot project in Theni district using COLLABLAND software developed by National Informatics Centre of Ministry of IT & Communications, Govt. of India. The intention of the digitization to furnish copy of FMBs with computerized land extract i.e sketch along with the chitta extract to the land holder. After the completion of digitization of FMBs in all villages, only the computerized extracts (i.e. digitized FMBs) will be used in all office routine since the issue of manual records will be banned. In this connection necessary arrangements have been made to create public awareness in usage of computerized extracts of land records. The digitization process is going on in Theni District .
Scholarship and Education Assistance to Students for ADWO as part of e-District Programme
The system is designed and developed by NIC TNSC. This system has been used by the staff of the Colleges and also the officer working in the department of ADWO . The basic details of the student are fed into the system by the staff of the college. The Data is then verified by the officials in the Adi Dravidar Welfare and Tribal office (ADWO) with the report submitted by the College . Once the details are satisfactory , approval is done for sanctioning of scholarship. ADWO Officials are issued DSCs . Integration of DSC is built-in to the system and processing of scholarship for the students is done using DSC for which necessary drivers and related components are installed in the computer system in the District ADWO Office and necessary training has been provided to sign the file digitally using the DSC.

Integration of DSC is built-in to the system and processing of scholarship for the students is done using DSC for which necessary drivers and related components are installed in the computer system in the District DBCMWO Office and necessary training has been provided to sign the file digitally using the DSC.
Internet facility and E-Mail facility and Video Conference facility
Video Conference facility and internet and E-MAIL facility have been provided to Collector, all DDOs and Treasury Officer in Theni Collectorate and Almost all the departments are using the facility extended by NIC.
